Term 1 Week 4 Learning Log:

Today's late for 10 minutes of lit lesson. By the time I reach class, Mr Chua had given the class an assignment to do in class. Finding of the defination for "mercy". My own defination of mercy is to beg other for forgiveness. After that, Mr Chua give us the actual defination for mercy which is compassion towards an offender, an enemy, or someone in your power. Mr chua give us 5 minutes to look through a passage said by Portia. If we have word that we don't understand, we can ask him.
Words that we asked:
Compulsion: forcing of something or someone.
Scepter: something that the king hold in his hand.
Enthroned: a very important position.
Salvation: save.
Mr Chua also explained that mercy is nature. It happened as naturally as when gentle rain falls from heaven to earth. It is twice blessed: blesses the one who gives, and the one who takes. Mercy is above mere rule by scepter. And in seeking it ourselves, we learn to be merciful to others... In total, i have learn that we must be mercy to others. If we do well to others, others will do well to us. Okay, that's all for today's lit lesson. I will end my post here~:D


Term 1 Week 3 Learning Log
The 3rd post of term 1. Mr chua collected our homework. After finish collecting, Mr chua started a new play called the Merchant of Venice. This play is about a man, Bassanio who liked a rich lady, Portia. But Portia does noe like him because he is too poor. Thus, Bassanio went to borrow money from his best friend, Antonio so that Bassanio can woo Portia. But, Antonio had invest all his money on his goods which is now on the sea. So, Antonio went to borrow money from a rich jew, Shylock. Shylock had agreed but on one condition. If Antonio could not pay the exact money on the exact day they have agreed on, Shylock will cut off one pound of Antonio's flesh. On the wedding day of Bassanio and Portia, a messenger came and told Bassanio that Antonio goods that is on the sea has sunk and Shylock is waiting at teh court of Venice to get the one pound of Antonio's flesh. Bassanio quickly rush to the court. Antonio is Bassanio best friend so Portia have decided to help Antonio. Thus, Portia and her maid, Nerissa have disguise themselves as a male lawyer and a male clerk to help Antonio's defence... End of the summary of Merchant of Venice. Term 1 Week 2 Learning Log
Back to my post for lit. Mr chua is absent for lesson and Ms Chala came to relieve my class. We started the lesson by going through our cinquains. Ms Chala called out some names to read out their cinquain. Ms Chala told us about William Shakespeare plays which is what we going to learn for this year literature. William Shakespeare have four plays. They are the Macbeth, Merchant of Venice, Romeo & Juliet and Midsummer Night's Dream. The first play we going to know is Macbeth. It was about Macbeth and his fellow soldier, Banquo who had just finish a battle and is on the way home when three witches suddenly appear before them. The three witches told Macbeth and Banquo a astounding news that one day Macbeth will become king but Banquo's children will succeed his throne. Macbeth becomes obsessed to those witches prophecy. Thus, Macbeth killed anyone that will obstruct him and his children to succeed the throne. Ms Chala also elaborate more on the conversation between the three witches. She gave us a homework which is to draw a scene where the witches are having their conversation. Ending my reflection here.

This is the first lit lesson for 2010. mr chua give us an ice-cream stick to write our name on it. we started the lesson with cinquain. we did a cinquain of our class.
