Term 3 Week 5 Learning Log:
Monday: Today lesson is the same as the last few lessons, not everyone submitted the assignment given by Mr Chua. Because of that, we wasted almost half of the lesson time. The lesson began we were to asked to close our text as Mr Chua wanted to test us on what we have learn the previous lesson so that we can recall what we have did and see if any of us have forgotten or went home to look through what is been taught on the lesson. This happened every lesson can be said as part of our lesson. This activity requires us to think, think fast. Even if we don't no, we must give it a try. The questions asked was from scene 2. Many of us get the questions correct except for some which is not revising or listening when Mr Chua was teaching. After the activity, Mr Chua gives us back our completed worksheet on theatre production worksheet we did on the first/second week. I got a score of 11/20 which is not really good. Mr Chua quickly went through the worksheet as time is running out. After which, Mr. Chua handed out another worksheet based on scene 2 of “Are you lonesome tonight?” We are to complete it and hand it in next week. Basically, today lesson was to go through what mistakes have we made.
Thursday: Today, Mr Chua came in, we greeted him as usual. Due to there is no need for us to submit any of our homework, we did not waste any of our lesson time. After a few questions asked to refresh our memory, we proceeded on to scene three which involves the Older Presley where Elvis is under drugs and Redhead. Elvis was in his room alone but he was talking to someone but whom? That was the first question asked by Mr. Chua after going through the first dialogue. We then knew it was Jesse, Elvis’s twin brother who died when he was born. After reading through the first page of scene 3, Elvis was in pain, but what pain. Another question asked. Some of my classmates thought that it was the withdrawal symptoms for the drugs he took. But, i think is the pain that he miss his mother and very regret for not to seeing his mother for the last time before his mother passed on. He was very lonely and sad. Although he have redhead, he still miss his family. Luckily, he have redhead which comfort him. In the text, it show that actually Elvis Presley miss his mother the most he is very regret for something he did. It was actually his mother funeral which happened a day ago but it was actually the August 14th 1958. At that point of time, Elvis is having a breakdown and he was in the army most probably performing for the US Army, and that was why he missed it, he can't see his mother for the last time.
My reflection: If I am Elvis Presley, i will put my family as the first priorty and then my occupation. This is because family is the one that is always with you, i will always have their support in what i do. And this, occupation can't. It is a non-living thing which can't talk to you about what problems you have and can't support you.
